Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Washington, DC (RMHCDC) has recently celebrated two major milestones. The first milestone was celebrating their chapter’s 40th anniversary of helping children and families going through difficult times. They are also celebrating a second milestone, an upgrading of their facilities.
Local news, Inside Nova, recently covered the expansion of the Washington D.C. chapter. The chapter consists of two houses with one being located in Northern Virginia and the other in Northeast Washington, D.C. Both of these locations will undergo renovations in order to better serve families. This renovation will cost around $5 million and will help an additional 33% of families that are currently on waitlists. Included in this renovation will be an increase in bedrooms, create larger kitchens, improved lounges, outdoor spaces, and a play area for children.

With construction having begun in Feb. 2020, the expected completion date of the expansion is in early 2021. They hosted a wall-breaking ceremony back in Feb. to kick off the project surrounded by the Board of Directors, corporate partners, family members, volunteers, and staff.
We could not be prouder of their success and commitment; they have dedicated forty years to the community and have made an impact on so many lives. It is local chapters like this one that are continuing to make the difference. RMHCDC is honored to be able to serve 11,000 children and their families annually, but with this expansion, they will be able to serve even more.
