Ronald McDonald Houses Bring Family's Together Again

Children who have spent their lives in a hospital for the most part need their parent's support and the feeling of having a family by their side. Ronald McDonald House Charities are what can help bring families together, even if it a home away from home.

USA Today caught up with the Woelfel family, whose 4-year-old child Caroline was born with a hole in her heart, talked about how the Ronald Mcdonald House Charities brought their family back together. Stacy Woelfel, the mother of Caroline, wanted to emphasize that the Ronald McDonald House changed their entire experience, “Ronald McDonald House® is here so we can have our base, and be with our child,” Stacy said. “We have the freedom to come when we need to. It’s so important. Caroline will never be alone in this. Never.”

Ronald McDonald House Charities is not just looking to be a place where you feel you are saving money, but a place where you feel right at home. “Caroline calls [the House] her ‘safe place’ where she knows she won’t be poked and prodded,” Stacy said according to USA Today. “The staff gives her high-fives and encouragement as we head to the hospital. And then she comes back and tells them how she was so brave.”

The Woelfel family is just one example of how Ronald McDonald House Charities has brought families back together, there are families all across the world who are using RMHC as a place to be right by their children's side.
